Last weekend was a long weekend here in Austria so we headed for a day trip to the mountains! We caught the bus from the main station in Salzburg and 40 minutes later we arrived in the town of St Gilgen which is on the edge of a massive lake.

We walked down through the old town to the water's edge, where we bought tickets to catch the ferry boat.

The boat stopped at several of the small towns around the edge of the lake, we got of at St Wolfgang and had lovely picnic lunch.

It was a lovely sunny day to get out of Salzburg and visit a nearby town. Hopefully I'll get to visit some of the other towns and places in the region over the next few months, depending on the cold weather!
